General

What is ExamGeneral?
ExamGeneral allows teachers to easily create exams and manage virtual classes online. This way students can take their exam online, for official reasons, or for practice, especially thanks to public free access exams shared by the teachers.

I lost my password!

Don't worry! Just go on the login page and click on the "Forgot your password?" link. You will be asked your username, and then a new password will be sent to your email address. You will have to change this temporary password as soon as possible for security reasons.

Teachers

Who can see my information?
Well, it depends on you. In your profile you can set a "privacy level" to various levels. This way you can choose if your students can see your information, if other teachers can also see them or if it's totally public. If no information is public in your profile, then it will never appear on homepage even if you are the most popular teacher...

What are public exams?
When creating an exam as teacher you can set it as "Public" or not. If this exam is public, everyone can search it from homepage, and it can also be displayed in the top exams blocks on the homepage. This way, anybody can read them. In addition, other teachers can add these public exams to their own exam in order to assign them to their own students. And students can take these exams at any time: they will be auto-corrected (Except Essay questions)

What's the difference between Easy and Advanced modes ?
Easy mode is the default mode when you create a teacher account. In Easy mode, you just create an exam and the questions it contains and then you can share its URL to anyone you want to take it. Advanced mode allows you to create Courses to store your questions and base your exams on it. It also allows you to create virtual classes and invite your students to join in. This way you can assign them to an exam. If you want to track results of your students, you should definitely switch to advanced mode.

How do you I switch from Easy to Advanced mode (or the contrary) ?

Click "Edit my profile", then click the "Preferences" tab and select your preferred mode in the "Dashboard Mode" selector.

How can I set up my time zone so that Exam can be assigned at good time?
Click "Edit my profile", then click the "Preferences" tab and select your time zone.

How many courses can I create?
We have not set up limit to number of courses creation in ExamGeneral.com :)

How many questions can I create in a Course (Advanced mode) or Exam (Easy mode)?

Idem, no limit :)

How many classes can I manage?
Idem, no limit :)

Can I modify an Exam?

Yes, in both modes you can, just click your exam in your Exam Listing.

How can people take my exams?
You have 3 solutions:
- If your exam is public: it will be searchable and maybe displayed in ExamGeneral.com homepage. Anyone will be able to take it.
- A secret URL is associated to any of your exams. Just share it to people you want to take it. But you won't be able to track their results.
- Invite people to join your class, and assign them your exams. You will get their results and even be able to correct them. (Advanced mode only)

What is the difference between Exam Listing and Scheduled Exams?
Exam listing table contains the list of the exams you have designed, with their questions and the order they are sorted, their weight, and some options. These are your "resources". You can assign these exams an unlimited number of times to your classes. A Scheduled Exam is just a date: an exam has been assigned for real and students must take it.

What is an "auto-graded" exam?
Public exams or exams taken via the secret URL are always auto-graded: that means our application will automatically calculate the result score (the calculation doesn't take the essay questions into account). You can also turn this option on for regular exam assigned to class. In this case, your students will get automatic score. But you won't be able to correct the essay questions.
